Soul,Korea/On June 12th, a peace walk titled “Peace Walk and Human Right Education for Youth” was held to enlighten Nepali youth about the value of peace in Chitwan, Nepal.The event was co-hosted by the InternationalPeace Youth Group (IPYG) and Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in cooperation with the volunteer groups of local youth; Nepal Friendship Society (NFS), Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYC) and Agrasar Child Club (ACC).

From four schools including Narayani public school and Shanti boarding school, about 250 numbers of students, citizens, and parents attended the event. Before starting the peace walk, a special lecture emphasizing the importance of youth participation in the peace activities to achieve peace was carried out. The lecture was based on the ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) consisting ofthe articles about the culture of peace, conflict resolution, the participation of citizens and so on.

Also, speeches about the fundamental human rights to prevent unfair labor exploitation of children were followedin celebration of the World Day against Child Labor. The manager of IPYG Nepali branch said "I hope that this walk and education will help young people recognize the importance of peace by participating in peace activities”.

The peace walk took place in the central area of Chitwan from Bharatpur high street to Lions Chok high street with the participants holding pickets to promote the active local environment toward peace movements.

As an international NGO under the United Nations Department of Public Information (UN DPI), HWPL has promoted a peace initiative of conflict resolution and peacebuilding with a global campaign for legislation of peace and youth empowerment through peace walk based on its Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
